Eating well, feeling good

Last week I was struck down by a strange illness,
On Thursday I felt nauseous and generally yucky all day with a small headache.  I couldn't think what had caused it.  Thinking back about my week I realised....Tuesday!
Since our move to Ottawa Steve and I have been eating healthy and exercising semi-regularly.  I have always loved fresh natural food but usually coupled this with a generous serving of junk-food as well.  My new diet has meant nothing but wholewheat, substituting honey for sugar and  using low-fat everything, cutting down on cookies and chocolate and cutting out potato chips completely.  It has also meant using stairs and walking more.  I for one feel better and I think it has helped my overall physique.  Nothing drastic but a definite improvement in those areas that needed it.
Back to Tuesday, it was a stressful day and I was feeling particularly tired.  I had an appointment after work so from 2pm until 8pm I had nothing to eat and had bought a packet of chips to eat on the bus.  When I got home Steve was celebrating some exciting news about school and had some Timbits as treat.
Everything was fine until Thursday morning when I woke up feeling groggy and slow.  I felt progressively worse throughout the day.  It wasn't until I got home and talked to Steve that I realised what I had done to myself.
On Tuesday I had (in addition to a normal days food) 4 cookies, a bunch of small chocolates, a sprite, a packet of chips and Timbits.  On Thursday I suffered for it.
I never thought that eating crap would actually make me feel like it.  Since I had cut most of these things out of my diet I have not noticed any major changes but when I put them back in did I ever!  This little exercise has shown me that it does make a difference when you eat healthy food.
So with all this in perspective what do you think I did when I was coming home from work on Friday, late and starving?  That's right instead of waiting in the 10 minute Subway line to get a healthy whole wheat sub I instead choose the 2 minute Chinese food line.  Meh.
