The snow is melting and although it is still pretty cold you can kind of glimpse Spring on its merry way to Canada.
The cold is fading, the animals are out of hibernation and the boots are almost ready to go back into the closet. It is certainly not time to break out the tank tops or jandals but at least winter is drawing to a close. Not that it really hit with all that much vigor. When I was getting ready to move here I was treated to horror stories of winters with snow fall higher then I am tall. Of cold so bitter you had to wear full face coverings. My appraisal after my first full winter here? Thank you global warming!
Sure it was cold, but it was manageable. Steve thinks it is colder in NZ during winter because we have no heating or insulation in most houses. Here in Canada they have an efficient system for dealing with the cold that means every inside place is super warm. However it is slightly tricky to know what to do with your coat, 2 additional layers, scarf, hat and gloves whenever you enter a building.
Still the thick of winter has been and gone and I am none the worse for wear. I survived this year, hopefully next year will be more of the same.
I am grateful though. Grateful I do not live in any of the places in these photos.
