Steve was online the other night when he caught sight of a banner updating him on the current match between the Canadian and American Olympic Hockey Teams.
Since the reception on our television is pretty crap we decided to try watch the end of the game onliine. Up to this point we had been removed from the Olympic coverage and to be honest not really interested. After some finangaling we managed to connect to a live feed of the Olympic coverage (thanks CTV) and we settled in to watch the final third (or period) of the match. In watching this we seemed to be captured by Olympic fever. Better late then never huh? We ended up watching not only then Men's Hockey but the second round of the Ice Dance competition as well.

I have always likes Ice-skating and recognised it as something I would never be able to do being the clutz that I am. But it has not been something I have followed. We where enthralled by the competition between the American and Canadian team and excited to try watch the finals the next night.
Although I couldn't watch all of the final round what I did watch was pretty amazing. The grace and aglilty of the skaters from all over the world was really showcased these Winter Games.
It's clear that Olympic fever has gripped the country and understandably so considering where the games are being held. The front page of any paper is full Olympic coverage and everyone is talking about the events. It has been a point of contention that Canada is not the top of the medal table. This games more then any. The old saying Homecourt advantage does not seem to be in play in this case. Although things are definitely looking up with the latest slew of gold's in some unexpected areas. Canada does currently hold the most Gold medals of any country but is still 10 medals behind the States overall.
What are our plans for the weekend? I hear you ask. Well we will be at home watching the Men's hockey, which may i say is pretty darn exciting.
A little closer to home (in a way) is the NZ Olympic Team. That's right there is one, even if they are small. It is is made up of 16 people. From such a little country that isnt too bad. We have yet to make it to the Podium but we like to try.
